The lift pump on my '04 failed last month - 92K miles - they did charge me a $100 deductable. Maybe I need to visit them about that charge?!

On my 05 the lift pump is in the tank. Is this pump much different than a fuel pump on a gas powered car?

I've got a 20 year old GM vehicle with pump in the tank 150k+ miles and it's still going fine. Why don't these things last?

Great thread, I need to get this info to my friend that is stranded with his 04 with 50,000+ miles. Local dealer tells him $1,100 to repair and not under warranty!

I was just stranded in Lake Charles ,LA last week w\ the SECOND in tank pump failer. It was replaced under warranty. I have 77000 miles on my 2500. Good Luck

My in tank rocks...so far

Since I had my frst LP failure on my '01 I've said, "Why the heck don't they put this in the tank?" Any pump will last longer pushing than it will pulling. Seems DC finally had the right idea, they just used too cheap of a pump.

Lift pump weak.

Dealer did flow test on mine. The flow was 330 ml with old pump. They switched my truck to the in tank pump. The flow increased to 560 ml. New pump covered under engine warranty. I have 75,000 miles on a 2003.

Lift pump died

I am getting my in-tank LP installed today. Truck died on the expressway, boy was that fun! All covered under warranty. Great info in this thread, thanks everyone.

Very good info

Truck died last Thursday, I traced it to the lift pump, couldn't figure out if warranty covered it from reading the manual, dealer hasn't returned my call, heard about you guys and signed up, now armed with all this information printed out I'm heading to the dealer I bought it from.

Thanks,

John

Our zone rep clarified this just 2 weeks ago. On 2005 and up warranty on intank pump is 3/36. When pump is mounted on Cummins engine it is 100,000 miles or 5 years or 7 depending on model year.
