It is covered under the engine warranty. Just had mine done a month ago under warranty with no problems.

Makes sense why they didn't fix it then. I just had it in for P0216 and they cleared it and claimed they couldn't duplicate it. THey recomended a fuel filter change(which I did) and it is still coming up.

Oh well I guess its another trip to the dealer.

I don't have a FP gauge on my truck so I don't know. I don't have any of the typical signs right now but keep getting the code.

I'm sorry, I must have missed the po216 code. That is associated with the VP 44 not the lift pump. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but off the top of my head i think it means "Injection pump timing failure".

You may indeed have a bad lift pump which is a common problem on these trucks. It then leads to the VP 44 failure usually due to starving the pump of adequate fuel under certain situations.

Do a forum search on both lift pump and VP44 failures. This should give you adequate reading for the next few years. ;) Seriously, if your problem continues, the information can give you some ammo for your next trip to the dealer.

Best of luck. :)

For whatever reason I was thinking the VP44 was the same as the lift pump. Are they both covered under the engine warranty?

I also had this replaced at 70k miles under warranty. Lift pump and injection pump( vp44) no hassle at all at the dealership. I do not have any engine mods. Just a BHAF on the intake.
