Had to get towed 70 miles. Was on my way to drop off tractor parts to get painted after leaving a store for lunch and only 1.5 miles away from my buddy's, the truck started surging and fuel pressure was 0. Drove 1/4 mile til someplace safe and my buddy towed me to his place, wrecker towed me home. An airdog raptor is in it now, was in it when I bought it. Had a FASS DDRP in my old truck that gave me no problems for the years I had it. Kinda leaning towards going back with the DDRP what's folks opinions? Need to get something ordered tonight need it next week

Do you know whats wrong with it? Not sure if you're even interested but I found replacement bearings and the seal that goes bad that allows fuel to leak into the motor. Not sure on what brand of seals AD uses but the bearings are labeled "China" with no manufacturer name anywhere so I'm guessing the seal is similar. I sourced an SKF seal and VXB bearings. Both are substantially better than the crap AD uses. Both the seal and the bearings are the most common failure points on the AD pumps. They are very simple to rebuild and provided you have a decent parts guy should have no problem getting either. My local NAPA guy quoted me about $30 for two bearings and the seal and could get them in the next day. I wasn't in a big hurry and found both on eBay for less. I actually ordered two seals and a pack of bearings for about $40 so I should be set for a while :-laf

If your interested I will dig up the numbers and post them up.

Thanks for reply. No I don't know what's wrong with it, power is getting to it, it won't run. Also got the PO216 code that's it. Kinda worried. Gonna take the airdog off I guess and tear into it

From my experiences one of two things happen. Either the seal goes bad allowing fuel into the motor side which washes out the bearings or the bearings themselves fail. It really angers me that Air Dog charges such an outrageous price for these pumps yet uses minimum quality components.

I just had a thought, I'm not sure if the seal will be the same or not on your Raptor. I have an Air Dog 100 but the motor is off of an old Raptor so I know 100% that the bearings are the same. The shaft diameter is also the same so the seal may be too, but I'm not 100% sure. If everything is dry on the motor side yours is likely fine, for now.

I just got the pump off it is a 100, has the quick disconnect fittings. If you could find those part numbers and I can get them at Napa that'd be awesome

Vols Fan If you didn't run to long the 216 code might not be to bad. I had the lift pump shut down twice with the 216 code. In my case turned out to be a bad connection causing loss of power to lift pump, but now up and running with no problem for the injection pump. On one of the shut downs had to drive about 1/4 mile with no pressure. Will cross fingers you ok.

You have an AD100?

The AD100 pumps have the dual fuel filter set up. I pulled the short straw and have to cover a night shift tonight. I'll be home in the early am.

Probably not an issue unless the motor smells burned up. Usually the fuel washes the bearings out and causes drag on the motor. Theres not much that can go wrong on the pump side. New bearings and seal and good to go.

Mine says air dog raptor 100. Doesn't have dual filters or any for that matter. Motor smells burned up. Called and left a message with them if they have a rebuild kit. Truck has the 1/2 fuel lines with the quick connect fittings so if I went FASS route would I have to change the lines?

Bummer. Should probably check it out before ordering parts. It may have gotten hot (hence the smell) but it takes quite a bit to fry them. Usually a fuse will blow before that.

How do the bearings feel? They probably got wiped out by the fuel and dragged the motor down.

Air Dog won't sell you any parts, been there done that. They would sell you a new motor though.

OK, here are the part numbers in case you decide to go forward with it.

Bearing # 608zz. Dimensions so you can verify for yourself if you wish are 8mm I.D. x 22mm O.D. x 7mm thick.

Seal # 3103. Dimensions are 7.9375mm I.D. x 19mm O.D. x 6.35mm thick.

Like I said last night I am confident the bearings will work for your Raptor as the Raptor and Air Dog 100 with the dual filter set up use the same motor. The seal is the one I would verify before ordering.

Is there an inline fuse in your pump? Ive got one on mine but i dont remember if there is one on the Raptor pumps. Its a good protective measure, generally the fuse will pop once the bearings cause enough resistance on the motor before any real damage is done.

If you decide to rebuild your pump I have 2 bases for a Raptor. If you think you could use them someday you can have them for the cost of shipping. I don't have a use for them anymore.

Here's my Frankenstein pump. Raptor motor mounted to an AD100 base.

JR that's a nice setup, thanks for pulling those numbers. Mine doesn't have an inline fuse. I ultimately decided going with the FASS titanium 95 from genos. That way I have a lifetime warranty from FASS and dealing with a great company to buy from.

Is your pump still mounted on the side of the engine?

If so I would strongly suggest spending the little extra coin to mount it on the frame rail. Besides pumps naturally being better at pushing fuel than pulling it mounting the pump on the frame rail gets it away from the constant vibrations and heat of the engine. It's just a bad place for an electric motor.

No, I'm mounted on the frame rail. Ditched the block mounted carter years ago. The titanium kit looks to include everything to re plumb down to the frame again with new lines, fittings and a bracket.
