So in other words if you still have a factory lift pump and want to keep it that way then get this kit while you still can?

So this is a stand alone replacement? It looks like maybe a good replacemant for a guy thats not heavily mod'd and needs reliable evryday use. Could it be used as a main and the old "stock" re-loc'd as a pusher?

Oh, and who would reprogram the ECM, if it could be done to the dodge version, and would it really matter-- if we had a gauge (FP) installed. At my current rate, I could limp home on a dead LP, I'd really be PO'd if the truck went to shut down mode... .

Many thanks to Don for this find. We in the NW have the kits available for a mere $210. 10. Called the 800 number and now have one on it's way . Parts man told me they are nearly gone now... . shipping all over the country.

Sounds like a good deal that was put into place below cost for a customer base other than DC CTD owners, and is going away fast like LETHISL said.

Fogie, I guess after calling the 800# you did get one for 64. 90? I stopped by that Cummins dealer this morning to p/u another one for maybe later use and it was the last one in stock. Saturday they had 26 in stock, so I knew someone called the 800#. The parts guy did tell me that If I or anyone else needed one that he could take the order over the phone and it would be sent fron their supplier straight to you but would have 13% added to the price which I think he said would make it 68. 00-69. 00. Hope everyone that needs one gets one or two. Like I mentioned, I have installed this pump back by the tank and I see at idle it is 15. 5psi, running at 65mph it is 14psi and wot it is 13psi and that is with the Vulcan big line kit.

I suppose the new pump would be better positioned back by the tank, but I wonder if it would hold up in the stock location?? It shure would be nice just to have a direct bolt in replacement that I could not worry about, at least for a long time.

Yeah Don, I did call this morning. They were great to deal with. He told me when I talked to him this morning that he only had a couple left. Said he had calls from all over the country. It's good to hear that he'll continue to deal with us and still get us a good price. I wonder why the rest of the Cummins shops aren't giving as good of pricing. Like I said, The local shop wanted $210 and change. Thanks again Don.

Don, Thanks alot for posting. I benifited from it. I called Cummins Northeast in Albany, NY (518) 459-1710 and they quoted me the price of $64. 90. Took the 180 mile round trip. When I got there they asked me what school district I

worked for. I told him I called and they had them in stock and did not mention any requirements for buying one. They sold it to me for above price so I bought two. Installation instructions I received with pump says unit MUST be a school bus, transit bus or emergency vehicle application to qualify to buy at this price.

Can anyone tell me if the in-tank pump is Cummins part or a Dodge part,the counterman was not aware of an in-tank pump.

Well tommorrow I will be on phone to order the Vulcan system.

Well I tried the part number Called the place that don B reccomennded all out called 4 other cummins places all out, called cummins northwest in anchorage they were going to give me the 70. 00 price untill they found out that it was a PERSONAL ORDER then the price went up to 200. 00 + shipping well I needed one any ways so i orderded it. I already have the vulcan big line kit waiting to go and the 6th lift pump is on its death throws right now after 6 lift pumps you think that they would give me one for free???? or maybe it is buy 10 get 1 free??? :-laf I know go RASP I know go FASS. but the deal is if they break you are screwed wiith the regular lift pump spares are easy to get so thats my reason and I am sticking to it . maybe the relocation will work better oh and did I mention I have only 74000 miles on my 99 CTD

When you say "improved", what exactly does that mean? I'm in the market, because I'm replacing my VP, but I don't want to get out of the fat and into the fire! I was leaning more towards the Walbro resolution, until I saw this. My local Cummins dealer wants $71. 75, but it's not worth a penny if it's the same old pump! Any insight as to why this pump would be better than the original?

Just got the Fass pump installed, the shop I had install it left the original equip. in place, capped the lines and unplugged the oem pump, if the Fass goes down, just unhook the supply and discharge, reattach the OEM lines, plug in the power, run till you get diesel to the discharge end, tighten and go.

Fogie, the other Cummins parts stores could give the same price, its all up to the parts guy. Nevertheless, the parts guy at Cincinnati will ship right to your address for the additional13%.

Got mine coming Don, I got one of the last few he had is stock before you were in there this morning. To bad the other dealers choose not to be as nice as the guy in Cincinnati. We all know they can do it if the want to.
