Guys,
At exactly 60,400 miles, my truck broke down on the interstate yesterday. It started to run rough and progressively got worse. I turned it off, waited a while, and started it back up. Ran fine for about 20 seconds but then went south fast and just stopped completely. From the beginning of it running rough to total failure was about 3 minutes. I don't think I had any indications prior to it running rough.
The dealer replaced a "Pump Fuel 14073001 Transfer Pump. " Is that my lift pump? Or do I have yet another appointment with the tow truck in front of me? This part was also under a Cummins warranty so I did not have to pay anything.
As I searched previous posts for lift pumps, it was not clear to me if that is what failed on my truck or not.
Can somebody tell me exactly what broke?
The really really bad thing was that a Ford tow truck scraped me up and took me to the dealer.
Thanks for the info,
Craig
