I think its time to replace lift pumps on my 90 engine and my 92 engine

Which is the one to buy ??? Stock Cummins one or Napa or ?

It costs a little more, but I'd recommend the piston lift pump, even for a stock engine. I put one on my W350, and besides flowing more fuel, I can go a little longer between fuel filters, plus I feel better knowing my lift pump isnt marginal, and able to poop on me at any moment (I know, it CAN happen, just isnt as likely). I had to replace the lift pump twice in my 91- one was a Carter from Cummins, the second was an Airtex (junk) from O'Reilley.

Lift Pumps ,Which one ?

I like the idea of the piston pump , I think there ton more $$$

and sounds like a pain to install if its just simple plumbing then its no big deal

but if you need to grind on parts etc and possibly screw something up .

Does any one got a piston pump thats good ready to bolt on and go ?

I would have gone with the piston pump on mine but when mine went I had the truck completely loaded up and on my way to my boat with all the summer stuff, dinghy, engine, supplies, food, etc. and had just gotten her flatbedded home. Got a replacement at 9 in the am and was on the road again at 10.

No time for mods.

The piston pump install is relatively simple. Only thing you need to cut is the tappet cover insulation, a good sharp razor knife and a few minutes trimming is all the "custom" work required. Everything else bolts right up

search "piston lp" and you'll find everything you need to know about the install.

It does cost quite a bit more than just a stock lift pump, but one of those upgrades everyone should do, stock or otherwise.

Lift Pumps ,Which one ?

Lifter insulation ????

What is that ? Looking at pics of the fuel pumps one apears to be strait

"piston Pump " while the other has a bend with stamped metal on it ?

Lift Pumps ,Which one ?

After reading that last post and viewing the post .

Its easy to convert to a 94 and newer piston pump

I just didnt know what the correct name of the plastic insulation crap is , if my truck has it , never paid attention to it

So whom has a low priced lift pump and any neceseery hardware ?

DVolk- make DARNED sure you get the low pressure version- the 94-98 Dodge puts out too high of pressure for the VE. The Cummins part number is 3936320 (I know the 6320 is right anyway- the p-pump LP is 6316). It is designed for a 4BT with the p-pump. Put is on a 6B engine, and it lowers the pressure to about 15-16psi.
