Lifting front end

... Just want to level out the front end. . whats the best way to do this, one shop wants to put in a add-a-leaf and a block... for $340, all I want/need is about 2/2. 5"

I recomend Skyjacker springs, I've used them on two different trucks with great results. I used them to lift my 1990, and to level out my 1992. Very happy with everything INCLUDING ride quality, which can suffer any time you change springs.

usally its best to swap out springs , you could have yours re arched .



But how ever ive used add a leafs on the front to correct sags with no problem

I would not use that for off road either. I shudder to think what the TQ and axle wrap could do a setup like that.



The skyjackers seem to be the easiest way to go but not sure about ride and longevity. It may cost more but I would lean towards a custom spring setup if you can swing it. Cost may be the issue there as that is a custom build.

Just so you know the cummins 2. 5 inch springs are the same exact springs as the 4 inch gas truck springs from skyjacker. You can usually get the gas truck springs cheaper, even though they're the same. I bought the cummins part number ones, and when I got them I peeled the stickers off and thats when I found the 4 inch gas part number underneath.

I also recommend the Skyjackers. Ive got the 2" kit on mine, and it made a huge difference. Unfortunatly i dont recall the part number either. I think if you do a search on Skyjacker Leveling Kit or something like that you may come up with it.





I WOULD NEVER use a block on the front axle, on or off road. There is a big chance of them comming out. I dont really even like using them on the rear for lifts.

I think the # are SKY-D200CDAK. I'm getting a set this spring. I can't stand the stock springs as their now hitting the bump stops.

The Skyjacker D200CS (2") is the one that will level out the truck nicely. . the 1" one just isn't enough. I learned the hard($)way. . I have the D200CS on my 92 and they REALLY improved the ride as well as the looks. . very easy to change as well...

Do the springs sit the way they are supposed to, not bowed like most 1 st gens? I'm sure they do, just don't want to do this more then once. Take it everyone got the Skyjackers at 4 Wheel Parts? Thanks for all the speedy replies so far!

What size of tire can you use with a 2 inch lift? I want to get to a 33 inch, so is 2 inch good enough or should I go with 4 inch

My other reason for wanting to do this, I have 33's on mine, and they do rub more then I'd like them too, usually at full lock and on uneven terrain. What side of town are you on Tram?

D200CS is the same as D400S. D200CS are the cummins springs, and D400S are the gas truck ones which are usually cheaper. I have these on my truck, and you can see pictures in my readers rig. I have 295/75r16's which are a hair over 33" and I don't have any rubbing problems, but I wouldn't go any bigger with this size lift or it will rub.

i take it you already know all about the 'sleeve' nightmare



make sure you know what size bolts your truck has and try to get the right spring the first time

Ditto on the 2" Skyjacker springs. I originally had 1. 5 add-a-leafs and the ride was horrible. My truck rides and sits nicely for 2 years now. And what Don mentioned about the sleeve issue. '92 & '93 are the problem years. PM me if you want my lengthy story.

Well, went by 4 Wheel Parts finally today and was not too impressed with what they had to say. Came home and hit up the Skyjacker site and right there in the install instructions it said that if you have the 5/8" bolts to discard the sleeve, what kind of BS is that??? For $720 I want my "stuff" installed correctly.
