Having just upgraded to a 2500 4x4 from a 1500 4x4, I need to lift my 2000 Jayco 5'er. My bed sits @ 3" higher than my old truck did. I looked under the trailer and the shackle's have three holes in them. The leaf springs are currently bolted thru the upper holes. I think I can get all the lift I need by simply unbolting the springs and moving them to the lower holes - also checking the brake lines for length. Am I correct on this - it wont sacrifice anything? I cant imagine that they'd put shackles such as that on if they weren't intended to be used... ... .

When I went to a 4 X 4 I went to an RV welding shop and they raised the trailer 4" to level things off. I didn' know it at the time, but DC would have lowered the truck for me if I had asked. OH well live and learn from the TDR website.

Jayco uses Jake Plates (the adjustable spring mounts) to give you height adjustability as might be needed. Go ahead and lower the springs - that's why the holes are there.

Lifting 5'er

Dewdo, I see your also in Edmonds... . small world, huh? I'm down in the "bowl" area. I checked that TSB for lowering the rear of the truck, and it only applies (so far) to the '94-'01. It's also just a parts package listing, so it is NOT a freebie..... unless your in good with the service dept.....

Hey neighbor; I live up here on the side of the hill just off 196th in the Seaview woods area. The outfit that raised my fiver was Glenn's Welding in Lynnwood. They did a good job and made sure everything was as it should be. I think they charged me around $300. 00 or so. My trailer is a 35' King Of The Road.
