Ok, I can definately say that the mallories are not the choice for our trucks. I bought my first one back in april of last year, it lasted 6 months. I bought my second mallory then and it lasted 6 months. After that, I replaced the brushes and only got 3 months out of it. There is something wrong with both pumps, one is leaking fuel (bad o-ring probably), both pumps appear to be fine till the truck is started and then the Fuel pressure sits there and is hammered back and forth as it cannot maintain a steady pressure.

What I would like is to get some feedback from others that are using the aftermarket lift pumps and how reliable they have been.

I just installed a Product Engineering PE 4100.

I realize that it has not been in long enough to evaluate but here are the reason I went with Product Engineering as opposed to any of the others.

The pump is designed for continuous (street) use, it is preset at 14-16 psi, it is internally bypassed, and it come with a 2 year mfg warrantee.

Because the pump is internally by passed it will never exceed the preset and does not require a regulator.

I know it’s not inexpensive at $300. 00 but I think the 2-year warrantee makes it worth the money.

The pumps are factory tested using diesel so I know it is compatible with diesel.

On mine the pressure at idle is 15 psi and going down the highway at 70 mph is about 13 psi.

The only fluctuation I see is when the intake air preheater comes on the pressure drops about 1 psi.

Good luck

So far so good...

With my Carter 4600 pusher. Time will tell!:D Several people I know have had their 4600 on for at least a year with no problems.

Dean "weircummin" has been running a holley red I believe for at least a year, and if i remember right it was used when he installed it... it's the direction I'll be going...

i found the post from about 2 months ago... here you go

"I have a Holley 815 back @ the tank. It's been on the truck a little over a year & about 18K, It was on 'sportbikes' truck before mine.

Dean

idle 13

cruise 11. 5

How many miles/hours is the usage, guess I should have specified that during the year that I went through a mallory every 6 months, I drove 100,000 miles during that year. I am need to figure something out today or tomarrow as I am having to make a quick trip to oklahoma this weekend to get my house hold things. 44 hours of driving in 72 hours.

Looks like the only consolation is, we can't simply blame Dodge for poor engineering, since some of the specialized high-end replacement pumps seem to have problems as well...

That PE-4100 sure sounds good tho'...

Have dual carters in mine from that kit described above a 15# and a 7 # pusher. I also have a sediment filter with a water separater BEFORE the pumps so they will last a little longer. with this setup, my PSI's are just under 13 at idle, 10-12 cruise and no less than 8 psi WOT. So far, hasn't budged a bit. and I put out 290hp at the wheels. Been 6 months at least since I did the switch.

dmurdock is right about my pump. It is sportbikes used Holley 815. With showerheads and twins, John felt like the pressure was dropping off to much. It survived MM02 including the trip out and back with the 5th wheel. I'm sure the Texas boys can attest to the fact that I'll run my truck as hard as anyone. It seems to have outlasted all the other pumps that members have tried. On Saturday MDW was trying to use the brake pedal on the passenger side. Good thing I've disconnected it, I'd hate to lock'em up @ 120mph.

Ditto on the PE4100. Mines been in almost 2 months, not enough for me to say that it's the one, but the pump is very well made and has 2 year warranty. I lke the fact that PE knows that I am using the pump on a diesel and still will waranty same. Great customer service and one look at the pump firsthand and you can tell they have spent some time on it's design... O-ringed inlet and outlets, anodized finish, 7 vane rather than 5 vane, motor is rated for continous duty. Like I stated before, can't say it's the cats a$$ as I don't have enough use under my belt yet, but it sure looks promising and looks purty under the truck as a bonus :D .

67k and still running factory lift pump. :) 40k is with my 275s and PM2. Checked presure today at TST and never dropped below 8psi a WOT. :D Going to upgrade to a PM3 in a month and then will see if I can get it to work a little more. ;) :p

Don't know if it makes any difference or not but it seems we have pretty good fuel around these parts. :)

well, I think I am going to go with the PE fuel pump, but it will have to wait till I get back from oklahoma this weekend. I have the spare mallory and can swap them out on the road if needed pretty quickly. Thanks for all the info and help, wish me luck on the trip from hell.
