I am need to figure something out today or tomarrow as I am having to make a quick trip to oklahoma this weekend to get my house hold things. 44 hours of driving in 72 hours.

So you were getting about 50k per pump and about 1000hrs

of operation out of one?? Did you use the recomended bypass regulator??

William

No, I didn't use the bypass regulator as the pump did not put out enough pressure to warrant one on our setup. The pump on my truck idled at 15 or less PSI and at WOT went down to 8 psi.

I have had the Enterprise Engine carter kit in for over a year and 25+k mi, mostly towing. It maintains 16psi idle or wot. It saved my posterior in early March when my factory lift pump died while on the freeway in town. I was able to maintain 10psi while under light throttle, pusher pushing through dead lift pump. Was able to get home, spend 1/2 day locating a stock pump ( found one at the Freightliner in Phoenix ),ordering overnight, using truck to get to shop where tools are and replace it. I don't leave home with out it:eek:

edit: I have since put together a kit w two hoses, and fittings to by pass either pump incase either pump fails on the road.

Pusher pump

Will replacing the lift pump with an after market pump void your engine warranty? What about just the #7 as an aid to a new stock lift pump. Also, someone mentioned a filter for the #7. Where can I go for info or buy such a filter.

Thanks for all the replies, I have postponed the replacement till after I get back from my trip (just didn't have time). Hopefully it will hold up for the trip, if not I have the other pump that I can swap back in. I am heading out at noon and will be setting the cruise at 80 and flying. If you see me give a wave.....
