I there a fuse one can pull to stop[ the bell from driving one nuts and the reading < light out> on the dash panel.

It seems like I read some time ago about this being caused by a bad ground on the tail lights.

Cannot get to them now as I do not want to take the camper off. Suggestions please.

The best fix is to replace the whole socket assembly. I believe Rockauto.com has them for about $20 a pair. It worked for me. I think the discount is TURBODIESEL or TURBODIESEL1

I do not have my manual with me so I can't tell you how to disable it.

sound like ya did yer homework but dont forget the 3rd brake light

not aware of a fuse as pulling one will affect other functionc

the wiring is very complex on these trucks and all monitered by computer (fcm/ecm ect)

Yeah, I had one last year that drove me crazy. It was intermittent and all the bulbs were working. Then one day I caught one that wasn't and found that the brass contacts on that particular brake light socket had some carbon build up. I took some sandpaper and cleaned the contacts, then replaced ALL of the brake light bulbs and the reverse light bulbs and haven't had a problem since. The key is the socket assembly though. If I have that problem again I'm not messing with it and ordering new socket assemblies.

Socket assembly went bad on my driver side lamp assembly. three months of intermittent chiming really can drive you wild (ask me, I know). $20 for a new socket assembly at the dealer. I carry a spare just in case...

It is corrosion on the socket assembly. This causes a high resistance when the computer is checking for bulbs out (it runs a low voltage across the bulb filaments to check for opens). When the bulb is actually on the current is high enough to overcome the resistance and light the bulb.

A frustrating problem with an easy fix
