Finally installed the Striker170's. They sure kick out some serious light. I still havent' decided where to mount the switch, but was thinking about putting it in the door near the window switches. Does anyone know if that piece that has all the switches just pops off, or is it part of the whole door inside skin?

it gets pretty tight mounting a switch there. I had to do some trimming to one of the supports to fit the switch(you'll see what i mean when i take it apart) running the wires through the door harness is a little tricky too. It is well worth it when it is done, I am extremely happy with the placement of the switch there.

I was pretty impressed when I put mine on. Thats not just a little bit of extra light, thats a lot of light. Why I wired mine to run with the stock high beam switch, last thing I want to do is blind somone with those lights.

I mounted my switches under the AC controller, Look in my RR for pics. I installed a pair of 240's and 170's and love them! Best light I have ever had.

I have three switches mounted on the underside of my dash bezel. They're a bit hard to see:

JCrockett, that is one nice setup. You've got your lights in your bed and toolbox, exactly the way I wanted to do mine... just have to find the time. And those 240's make the 170's look tiny. Darn, you must throw some serious light down the road... Very cool...

Good job on the wiring also...

JPointer, those are some sweet looking switches. Where did you get 'em?
Radio Shack, but they're not the only place that sells them, I'm sure. What I liked about them was that they have a round body, so making the hole for them only requires a drill bit, not any wanking around with a Dremel or anything. Plus, they're lighted, so I can see if they're on or not.

If you use your lights a bunch you might consider what I did, I used a floor switch like old trucks used to have. One tap of the left foot and the lights are on. One tap and they are off. You can get a floor switch at NAPA for about $10. I just asked for a switch from any older truck, I think mine if for a ford.

Watch out for your lightforces, mine where stolen off the front of my truck in the driveway one nigh. At $300 plus they are spendy to replace. I am going for cheap metal housings with aircraft landing light bulbs next. They will not be as fancy but they will melt the snow infront of the truck while I drive :D

Like JR2 said they are spendy to replace when stolen. Mine hide behind my bumper now. Years ago I had 4 170's & 4 240's on my F-150. 6 million candle power! You couldn't read road signs since the reflection was so bright.
