OK guys, with winter approaching I know my lights are going to begin flashing. It seems when the temperature drops to 50* or below my lights will flash for about two minutes after initial startup. Is this common with all the first generations? Any ideas where to begin? Help greatly appreciated

Yes very normal operation. We have intake air grid heaters in our trucks. Two cycle, prestart and post start heat. Prestart, when temps are below 59*f, they will cycle, wait to start light comes on in dash. Post start, the heaters will cycle after truck is running until intake temp reaches a certain temp, which I don't know at the moment. Post heat cycle there is no WTS light on, only effects of it, lights dim, voltage gauge swings, they draw a good amount of juice. BTW welcome to the TDR!! Need to get yourself a signature, so we know what ya got.

It freaked me out the first time it happened with my truck, but it is perfectly normal. In fact, it's a great indicator that lets you know that your grid heaters are working OK and are drawing that current away from the headlights.
