I have a couple of questions. First, I haven't driven my truck at night for at least a few months. It is and 02. I thought I remembered that the cruise control lights on the steering wheel would lite up when I turn the lights on in the truck. They don't. Can anyone with an 02 confirm for me if they should ?

Also, last night I was on low beam, went to high beam, and then back to low. When I went back to low, I had no headlights. Im hoping someone will tell me it might be something simple that I can check, rather that having to have the steering wheel removed and replacing the switch.

Thanks,

TRat

Thanks, I wont sweat that one. Its always 30 or 40 bucks a button when they go out on my wifes Buick

Hoping for good news on the high/low beam switch

Are both high & low beams inop now, or just the low beams?

Some things "simple" to checK:

  • Fuses B, C & F in the PDC
  • Left and right bulbs
  • Light switch
  • Your wallet (for sufficient funds for the replacement of the multi-function switch) - the most likely cause...
I had a Jeep that had both low beams burn out at the exact same time. I was about to order the switch when I decided to check the bulbs. Lucky me on this one - saved a bunch of $$$ - should have played the lottery on that day

I had this happen on my 01, needed to replace the multifunction switch. Should say that the lows being out was intermittent, I drove with the fogs on all the time for awhile, a small bit of light is better than none which sometimes would happen when I dimmed the lights.

Got to be the multi function swith then. I found that, if I move the lever for a turn, it makes the lows come on. And it works in the middle position again after Ive done that

i haven't experienced it, but several members that use their tilt steering wheel function a lot have reported a loose wire in the loom near the joint where the wheel tilts. i believe they have peeled a bit of the loom off and created a bit more slack (after making sure the connector is repaired).
