Limited slip and Mobil 1

I just change to Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube (75-90W) and noticed that they claim it does stop limited slip chatter. Now does this mean that I should not add any limited slip additive? Anyone else out there who used Mobil 1, what did you do? Would have used Amsoil (have it in the trans and transfer case) but, for 3 times the cost, I cannot see it being 3 times better.

Mobil 1 here. No friction modifier. Works fine.

as far as i know the additive is meant to let the clutch type diffs slip when they need to . the synthetic is slippery enough i would think.

i would rather they dont slip at all. if you drag race at all. if you ever do a burn out and only one wheel spins ,STOP and start again you will burn up the clutch plates. Speaking of clutch plates does the new limmited slip have clutch plates? personally i use a locker.

I put in Mobil 1 and needed a TON of modifier. Whether or not you need it will depend on how tight your LSD was built and how much wear is on it. I run more modifier than anyone I have ever talked to before my chatter stops, mine drives like a spool when there is no modifier in it.



Drive it and if it chatters add 2 ounces or so of modifier until it goes away.
