Is there a visible way to look at the rearend of my 05 2500 48RE truck and tell if it is limited slip rearend or not. thanks Brad

I think you can check the codes listed on the glove box door. Not sure if it says Limited Slip or if it is a #. Somebody will chime in with better info ;)

Didn't the 05 have american Axle? If it does, its a not a clutch type rear like a Dana. I like my AA limited slip better then the last 2 Dana 80 hb's I had.

One thing I notice is you got to have both wheels moving, and it works great.

Yes, with the cover off it's easy to tell whether it's LS or not. The LS carrier will be rather closed off relative to a traditional open type.

Easy way to check for limited slip

If you jack up one rear wheel while the other is still on the ground and put the transmission in nutral (Remember to block the front wheels), you should not be able to easily spin the elevated rear wheel with your hands. If it rotates easily and the driveshaft spins, then it is not a lockup !
