Famous sceen from "My Cousin Vinny" on posi-traction, because everone knows that if you are driving in Alabama, and one tire is in the mud and the other one is on dry pavement, the tire in the mud will spin and you will not go anywhere. :-laf

If I'm not mistaken, the LSD in the new trucks is a helical-bevel design not unlike the Torsen. If that is true, then it would be a shame not to get it. The Torsens and helical-bevel designs are much superior to the clutch pack designs and don't wear out.

My $. 02 worth,

Steve

The only problem with that is that quote holds true with this axle even if you get LSD

I guess I'm the odd man out on this one. After reading about all of the complaints on this site about the LSD not working correctly, or having to push the emergency brake pedal to get it to work, I decided not to order it on my new truck. I had LSD on my Ford and it worked great without having to hit the brake to get it engaged, and yes, I know that the LSD in the Dodge is a different design. So, I figure I'll save the $285 and put in a selectable locker [(ARB, Eaton, Detroit)air or electric] when one becomes available for the rear. I would've done that anyway.

Get it! If you don't and you ever slide off into deep ruts on one side, you are stuck ( w/ 4x4 open differentials)! W/ anti-spin/limited slip, you can probably get out. The only way I wouldn't order it is if I were going to get a locker of some sort & they were available (which they are not, as of yet). I would probably still get it, because you could probably sell it for way more than the option costs.
