I purchased a Lincoln SA250 welding machine with a Continental TMD 2. 7 engine at a sulplus sale - it was "as is, where is", but I took a chance because it was all there and in fairly good condition. Just got it running today - and it runs great! But the exhaust manifold is broken(at the muffler flange) and the #2 injector fuel return fitting is also broken off.

Anyone know a good source of parts for these engines?

I have bought Continental gas burner parts from my local welding supply shop, As long as they carry Lincoln parts they should be able to help you. I would think they could get the diesel parts as well. Just have the serial # ready, because they will ask for it.

I've gotten great service out of Chris' Welder Repair in Odessa, TX for new and used SA200 parts. He might be able to locate something for you as there might be one or two Lincolns floating around Texas. If you get desperate every big city has a Continental engine parts and service center but it is a dealership. I don't think I've ever seen a Continental diesel on a lincoln welder, is it a newer model?

Definitely not a newer model - my guess is mid 80s. It's a Teledyne-Continental TMD 2. 7(liter) engine - four cylinder, 67hp @ 3000RPM, with a CAV fuel system very similar to my John Deere 2120 tractor. I downloaded an operator's manual from the Lincoln Electric website, but it doesn't have engine parts listed. I also purchased an engine service manual from Continental Engines in Greenville, SC, but again, no parts list...

I shy away from buying parts @ welding supplies as they get them from the same places I can (without the markup). The Lincoln factory repair center in Atlanta doesn't stock many engine parts and usually refers me to the engine service center. There should be alot of places nearby you to get parts as most of the weldors I've worked with came from TX & LA. Start with Chris, if nothing else maybe he can point you in the right direction. I've always seen 250's w/ 3cyl. Perkins ( I know where ones being parted out now ). Hopefully you can buy used as dealing w/ Continental is $ and agonizing on older parts.

Wow, this thing sounds pretty cool, TSims! Got any pics? How much does it weigh and how'd you load it up?

SA 250 with a continental is rare so be careful, my old 250 had a perkins 3 cylinder and all of the 250's that I have seen were perkins so this may have only been for a year or so. The good news is that miller big 50's used this engine for many years. My big 50 had a lot of oil leaks so be careful with new gaskets. If there is a ready-arc dealer in your area they should be able to help. I know there is one in Houston.
