Line of Fire lightbar

I am trying to get this light bar to work and I am not sure if I have a wiring problem with the truck-----here is what its doing.

I have it installed and when it is plugged in to the 4 plug connector up under the truck there is 4 led's that light up very lightly.

I can turn lights on and only half the light bar lights up------turn signals work for both sides but the bar doesnt work

The only test I have done is to take a tester for the 7 way plug that tells you if their is power and everything works fine until I turn headlights on and off and then the indicator lights for the turn signals have a faint glow to them light there is excessive power running through those wires. I am just wondering if I have a bad ground for the trailer wiring?

This light bars works on 3 different trucks----just not mine

There a couple of ways to check this out. If you have a buddy with a late model truck test the line of fire with his truck If OK then the trouble Is In the wire's on the truck. You got to have a test light and Is a must for this kind of work.

I had on on my 04. Worked fine until a few of the leds went out after a couple years.

We plugged it in on a 04 and it worked fine----we also took another lightbar----brand new off the shelf and it did same thing on my truck.

Check your ground. I bet that is the problem. It's trying to ground back through the other leads and through the other lights.

Mine works great... even after two years of PA salt.

Where would I check the ground at? Would it be the main ground in the wiring harness or would it be the ground for the trailer wiring?

It could be a bad ground in your tail lights. If you pull the sockets out of the tail lights and turn you lights on, look at the bulbs and see if both elements are glowing. If they are, check the other side for the same thing. If one bulb has both elements glowing, there is a bad ground on that bulb. If both bulbs do it, pull one of them out. Does the other one still have both glowing, if so pull it out and install the the other one. Check for the glow. The one that has both glowing is the culprit. It is grounding back through the other element to ground.

Figure out which one of the 4 contacts is the ground - I don't remember offhand, but someone here should know. Then strip the end of a stranded wire - small, like 16 gauge would probably work best - and crimp it down in the connector at the ground pin. Then attach the other end of the wire to a good known ground (like your receiver hitch on a spot with the paint scraped off). This should give you a good ground. If the lights work now and you are sure you have a good ground through this wire, then the wiring harness for the trailer must have a poor ground.

As much as I hate I probably should take it the dealer-----Truck has only 900 miles on it and I am afraid if I start doing to much they could say something. I can just help them along with the checks I have done.
