I am wanting to swap out my head bolts for studs. I have already bottom tapped the holes. I need to know what torquing proceedure I need to follow. I know the studs are spose to be brought up in stages, but doing them one at a time how will it work? I dont want to loose the bite the

O-Rings have on the head gasket. I asked Van ans Piers if it would be ok to line swap them out like this but I didn't think to ask this.

When my first set of studs failed I replaced them one at a time. Never had a problem. I used a shop vac with a piece of clear plastic tubing to clean the holes out. I replaced them in the standard torque pattern. took them up to torque in 3 stages with about 15 seconds between. when i was done I went back and checked them from the beginning then put 50 easy miles on them and did a retorque the next day. Checked them 2 more times after that. No problems. But then my motor doesn't make enough power to hurt anything.

Thanks Ron.

I wasnt sure if I should go with a happy medium then torque them into the higher numbers together or what. Torque them a bit wait and a bit more sounds good to me.

"But then my motor doesn't make enough power to hurt anything"

I will take that into consideration ;)

If you are in Iceland, the 15 second breaks will come in handy to thaw out the torque wrench. Don't forget the moly lube.
