Those of you that have Line-X, how do you care for it? What kind of soap, pressure wash or not, armor all, etc... . ? I just got my entire truck Line-X'd and am trying to develop a good care regimen.

TIA,

Matt

I care for mine by throwing stuff in it all the time and spraying it with a hose to wash off the dirt once in a while. Still good as new after 2 years.

Line X fade

I love my Line X liner... just hate the way it looks now after 3 years.

I try to keep my truck looking as nice as I can, the faded liner has always been an issue with me.

I have just purchsed the Forever Black Bedliner Gel from Klasse Car Care products

http://www.klassedirect.com/bedlinergel.html

Have tried it on the tailgate only so far as it's been to hot to put it on the entire bed. Looks like a good product, just hope it lasts awhile.

Line-x sells it's own protectant. Good stuff... . use it couple of times a year. Wipe it on with a sponge applicator. Doesn't take very long.

I agree with 24V-DSL... . I got some of the UV protectant that Line-ex sells and it looks as good as new..... seems to hold up much better to elements.

I was also told by Line-ex to wipe out the bed with a towel after washing so that the minerals in the water did not adhere to the finish, which will contribute to the fading.

I'm thinking of getting a Line-X or similar liner, but having it done in gray to avoid the fading part. It should look good with the maroon color of the truck, too.

FADE?

Mine was done when truck was new almos 6 yrs ago. I have a canopy on mine but even the 1. 5 inch that is exposed over the bed rails, outside the canopy, looks as good as the day it was applied.

Would not consider another product.

LINE X

To clean my LINE X bedliner

I usually pressure wash it afterwards.

Then put my tarp back on after bed dries.

Hauled 2 loads of coal already this year .

After pressure washing you never knew it was dirty.

Truck looks nice with the LINE X over the rail.

Helps keep the sides from getting scratched.

Grey (or any other color) will fade more so than Black. The sponge on pretectant that Line-x sells is actually a UV blocking paint/sealant. It works VERY well at maintaining the "glossy" type look that you have right after having it done. Line-X reccomends (as was stated) that you wash it as you would your truck, and then dry the bed to eliminate mineral buildup. I've had mine for more than a year and it still looks brand new.

I cleaned up a 3 year old faded line-x job using the UV sealant and it looked brand new again.

How do you figure? Black attracts the most heat and UV of any other color. If I could get one in white... well, I wouldn't do that. But gray is going to reflect more light and UV than black.

Please tell me that physics hasn't lied to me. That would be just a big waste of time and $$$.

Its the dyes they use. Black is the only color proven to work. The other colors can even change to a differant color. Blue bedliners have a tendency to change to a puky green.

While it won't shine glossy like new, the best clean-up product I've found is 2 or 3 ounces of Simple Green in a 5-gal bucket of water. Get a big brush, like an RV washing brush or a window washing brush, dip it in the bucket, and scrub the Line-X. It doesn't take much work. Hose it off and it looks almost good as new, just no shine. That's OK with me!

Eric- I'm no physics major ;) , but I've had Line-X on 3 trucks and have spent enough time talking to the installer and owner of the Line-X shop. That info is straight out of his mouth, and while he will mix to make any color you want, they will NOT guarantee colors against fading, and they do not reccomend anything but black for exposed installations.

FYI I was also told the cleaning agents in simple green break down the finish on the line-x and will leave it dull soon enough.
