For those not wishing to spring for the coatings DFriedson discussed, but would like to restore at least some of the original look, get a 5-gallon bucket half full of water and add a half cup or so of Simple Green. Use a scrub brush (a big one one on the end of a stick) and scrub down the Line-X with the cleaner. It doesn't require a lot of scrubbing. Rinse well.

As an option, once dry, Armorall it.

JKG, I agree.

Yes, you can apply LINE-X to inside of toolboxes. The dealer will properly clean the interior by using a degreaser/de-water chemical like methanol, scuff the interior with an abrasive cup brush, clean it again, then apply LINE-X.

DFriedson,

Where is your shop located and what's your contact info? I'm about 100 miles away from DFW and would like to get a price quote on some "ideas" I have for my MC.

Thanks for the tips! My bed faded within 30 days of application. I expected it because of the research that I did in advance. But I did not know that Line-X can coat to prevent fading. My dealer never mentioned it.

Being a truck bed, I won't be too concerned about making it shiny. I was just thinking that other places would fade just like my bed did and that there wasn't anything to be done about it. Again, thanks for the info and education!!

I am thinking of Line-X'n my air tank for my train horn system and on board air.

I am only wondering how it would be around the threaded tappings... . ?
