Tony - I'm in the Lewisville / Flower Mound area every day on business so that shop was easy for me to visit and check out. I found out later that they are one of the largest Line-X franchises in the nation - so that was nice to know. The store is nice and clean... lots of cool truck toys like winches, bumpers, tool boxes, etc.

Then the icing on the cake was that they carry in-stock, and install the B&W Turnover Ball gooseneck hitch. I needed the hitch, but cutting through the factory plastic bedliner would look nasty, so I was forced to get the Line-X bedliner done at the same time.

I wish I would get "forced" to get a set of Ranch Hand bumpers too...
10-4! Thanks I will certainly keep Lewisville in mind when its time to do the Line-x.

I Line-Xed my flatbed deck and rearend. I would do it again in a without hesitation. Cost $250 and it has been fantastic. There is only a couple of wear spots from the "shack topper" set up I use during the winter or road trips, i. e 7 months out of the year.

I'd like to get an experts opinion regarding the difference between Line-X and Mastercoat liners. My dealership has a brochure promoting Mastercoat but I've never heard of them.

Thanks in advance.

There you go! Sorta like Full Metal Jacket. Never heard of 'em. Undoubtedly your dealer gets a kickback. From my point of view, best to stick with a nationally recognized bedliner with a warranty which is honored nationwide for as long as you own the truck... ... ..... but I'm just a satisfied Line-X customer... ... ..... not an expert, so I'll crawl back in my hole now. :)

Thanks Bagger. Hey what's the ThunderRoad package in your rig? I'm wondering if it's the same as the Big Horn Edition here in Oregon. Just the towing option and tow hooks out front.

Nice baby too. I've always had a bike, but can't seem to keep out of trouble on 'em. Waiting to grow up enough before getting another one. I'm 42 now and still feel the need for speed.

Off the sticker, my Quad Cab ThunderRoad Value Group listed at $255 with a Pkg Value of $755 discounted $500 and includes: Tow Hooks, Fog Lamps, Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel, Sliding Rear Window, Trailer Tow Group, Class IV Hitch Receiver and 7-Pin Wiring Harness.

Like you, I've always had a motorcycle... ... when I was little, I grew up with a Rupp. Although I've gotten taller and put on some weight, I'm still VERY much a kid... ... ..... even at 42. Ride Fast, or Be Last! :) Love my HD! Oo.

My linex is a couple of years old and has held up real well. I had them come over the rail to the body break line on the fender, about 3 inches down. Looks great and it saves scratches in that area.

Had it installed at the original Linex dealer in Charlotte. I need a minor repair where I dropped a heavy lawnmower on the rail and peeled the Linex back. I wanted to take it to the new dealer nearby, but they tell me I have to take it back to the original dealer unless he is more than 150 miles away.

I use Dupont Ful-thane Nason paint for color matches. Nason is a urethane based automotive paint. With this method, your liner will not fade any faster than your truck's paint. Not all LINE-X dealers are familiar with this method though. Also, we use the factory paint code to get an exact color match.

I posted a few color match pics above, here's a couple more:

I like that (In fact it looks GREAT!)... . How much for a Flame Red shortbox, and where are you located?

Which comes first

No Linex yet, or truck for that matter... But I'm wanting to install a B&M Turnover Ball hitch. Should I install the hitch first or get the bed sprayed then install the hitch?

Thanks!

My LINE-X shop is located at 8155 Camp Bowie West in Fort Worth. We have been spraying a lot of color matches lately, I think people are sick of black. We charge an additional $175 for a non-fading color match.

DFriedson,

Do you know of anby reputable place in Alaska? I have had my bed done over the rails already, but would now like to get my rocker panels coated as I did on my last truck; winter is coming in a couple of months.

Thanks,

Figures, I'm 700 miles away!

That bed liner will be good when that Harley breaks down and you have to truck it.

Well, that HAS happened before..... the Harley breaking down, that is. A broken down Harley is not the reason for the bedliner tho'. I have a trailer in the event the Harley breaks down again. I am starting to wonder if I should have had the 5th wheel put in BEFORE the Line-X. I still need to have the 5th wheel put in, and now that I've had the Line-X installed, I'm wondering if I'm going to need touch up work after the 5th wheel goes in... . especially where the holes in the bed will be. Oh well, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. As for the Harley; 33500 miles and counting..... and the break down, well, it does happen... . and that was 14000 miles ago and was a total loss of oil pressure due to a stray piece of RTV in the scavenge gerotor from the SE203 cam install. Thankfully it wasn't my bill to pay. Other than that, I'd light out across the nation tomorrow if work would permit. :)

DFriedson,

Don't suppose you know anyone in AZ that you would suggest, I've got 2 short beds I should get done. I like the stencil inlays, especially the ram symbol on the tailgate.

Actually, we've thought about doing spray in's and a couple other things. A "ProLiner" shop just started up but is up to the Rhino liner $$$. Up here they want something like 650 under the rail for a short bed, ouch!

Heywood - get the bed liner done FIRST, THEN the hitch. Otherwise the standard B&W holesaw cut will be too small for the hitch to fit through as the Line-X is THICK.

That's why I had the Line-X done first and then they used their installation template and their holesaw to make a PERFECTLY straight holesaw cut through the Line-X and through the bed. It looks factory!

Here you can see how tight the fit is between the receiver mandrel and the hole cut by the installer's hole saw - so if you have the hitch done first the receiver boss wouldn't fit through the hole unless you cut a bigger hole (ugly) or used a Dremel tool on the Line-X. You can barely see on the far side how straight the hole saw cut is through the Line-X material - sweet!

dreamer37 and RMarkey: Sorry, I don't know of any dealers in Alaska or Arizona. Go to www.goline-x.com and use the dealer search function.

dreamer37: I traveled to Alaska a couple of years ago. Man, what beautiful state! Bald eagles are everywhere. I went to several cities and went deep sea fishing. We caught some salmon and halibut, one of which what 150 lbs!

5th wheel plates can be put in before or after the liner is sprayed in.
