Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Linelocks...

i was curious how hard it would be to install linelocks on a truck like mine? does anyone have any pics that i could check out or any references i could see? i would like to put this setup on my truck, but if its too much of a pain, im not going to do it.

What are you planning on using the linelocks for? IMHO, they're not a replacement for a functioning cable emergency brake.



There's 2 major types of linelocks, electric and mechanical. The electrics are a good deal easier to mount remotely, say, on the rear axle near the brakes.

If you're going to use it for drag racing, the electric one is the way to go. Any local speed shop/auto parts store has them on the shelf. The normal place for the switch is on the gear shift lever... hope you don't have an exhaust brake switch already there... could be exciting when hitting the wrong switch!!

i am wanting to use it for drag racing/ showing off. it would be a lot easier to just hit the switch and shift gears than to try to hold the brake, and hit the clutch to shift. is there like a single brake hose that goes into the distribution block that i can tap into? lol, luckily i dont have an exhaust brake! :-laf

thanks Steve! i had a line lock setup i had bought a couple of years ago for my camaro, and i was gonna use it for the truck, but i took a look at the Hurst setup and i think i'll go with that instead. especially since they send extra brake line material. thanks again for the help!

Keep in mind that if you have 4w ABS I think you'll need to have two line locks as I said in that thread.

ok. i believe i do have 4w ABS. i just hope there is enough room for two of those solenoids.

BLively, I could be wrong, but I don't think 4w ABS came into effect until like 01. 5 or later. I'm pretty sure I don't even have 4w ABS.
