I am a recent member and have searched the tdr for answers. I have checked the codes (with a scanner) and have the 1693 and 0216. I have read about cycling the key to pull codes but can't get mine to do so. any way I am thinking of installing a blue chip pump, big line pusher kit from vulcan, a carter or similar lp and of coarse gages inc fuel press, pyro, trans temp, boost, is there other gages or parts i should look into? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP IN ADVANCE.

Ken the 1693 code comes in as a "MIL Flt in Comp Module" and the 0216 is "Injection Timing Control Circuit Malfunction". I have an OBDII Scanner & software so I plugged in the codes and this is what came up. As I found out with my 99 we can't do the key on, key off 3X thing to read codes. I "think" only late 99 and up have this function. For around $100 you can catch a decent reader on sale - got mine @ Sears. I thought that you could fine info about codes here but, forget how I "think" if you search and place just the code number it should turn up something. Do the gauges then the other stuff. Good luck and I'm sure someone else will chime in soon with more info for you.

key cycling

On the early 24 V's we can't get the codes by cycling the key. Think that it is the later 2000's Do get the fuel pressure gauges for the lift pump I put 2 pressure senders on on the 2 ports of the filter works well. Yesterday the lift pumps pressure was very erratic so will be replacing it this weekend.

The codes are in the "Truck 911" forum. It is shame they cannot be better displayed. It seems most TDR members don't know about them.

Ken,

I assume your talking about a new LP and adding a pusher pump?

I don't care for two pumps in line... JMO. Fuel flow problems... if they arise become difficult to diagnose. Considered a FASS?

I'm very happy with mine.

Also, If you don't need a new injector pump... why replace now? If it's preventative MX due to high mileage... that's your call. Blue Chip, IMO, is the one to go with.

Other Items?

-Steering Stabilizer... .

-Track Bar upgrade also... if mileage is high.
