Power Stroke bad fuel pump or bad diesel ?

Battery mismatch??

had a little pow wow with the other guys last nite about our respective tow trucks. in our co we all have the choice to pick our next pickup, and some are ford guys, some chevy, some dodge. being a ctd driver since 1991, i've heard it all. the consensus was, to my surprise, that every guy conceded that our 2001. 5 ctd duallys with the simple injector upgrade and exhaust brake were the best package. the chevy guys have'nt been impressed with the dmax's ability to hold speed, while towing, on hills. the psd guys have always had that problem, but on flats will move the mail. to set the record straight, we've had problems with all three makes, all under warranty, so i have no complaints about any dependability issues. but i will say this, our dodge dealer mechanics know their stuff, been there done that, the gm and ford techs look like they should be asking your daughter out on a date... ... :)

Ain't that THE TRUTH!!

We tow heavy and had our share of poblems,, but the D-Max just won't hold the speed on the hills like a Cummins.

Hey,, and the Cummins has 7 Bearings on the crank instead of 5 for the PSD and D-Max.

Watch the View ticker go up !!!!!

Hate to raise the BS flag but here again your comparing apples to oranges... . Mods to no mods..... If the Chebby tow truck driver were to add a simple 3 min plug in with the re-injected Dodge he'd smoke'im..... Take a look at this..... Pull off

No set up pure truth... . if it's UN viewable I'll copy paste..... Pay close attention to the STOCK D-max to the slightly modified GOMERS DC... ...

You know mack, I have watched you post here for a while. With really nothing to say positive about anything but your D max. It still aint a cummins, never will be. If chevy offered a cummins and a duramax as options... . I wonder how many D maxes would sell... Well to each his own... I know you paid to be here..... Thanks:rolleyes:

Mac, thanks for the Pull Off link. I wanted to go as it's just up the road but had a wedding to attend. I know the hill very well, for any truck pulling 16k just hitting the speed limit is impressive but to hit it at 84 mph is incredible. My hat's off to the D-max on that one.

Rcpilotlv,

Sorry I offend you ,really..... My post was with good intentions..... Just perhaps to inform the misinformed... ... I have nothing against the Cummins, perhaps some day I may chose to own one..... If I truely wanted one I'd buy one,I wasn't looking for a replacement or a copy cat in my Duramax... . I'm a GM guy and I wanted the new kid on the block and Finally after many years of lagging in a DIESEL engine they have a contender..... I was just giving a tid-bit of info ..... There are many D/C bombed to the hill that could have surpassed the numbers generated on the hill climb... I'm talking STOCK verses STOCK... ... . Looking forward to the new generation D/C... ...

A humongus 5" exhaust system, a 120-hp power module, an experimental turbocharger modification and modified Allison were the primary motivators allowing the big Chevy to haul-ass. Always running with a backseat assortment of performance modules, his Tech II scan tool and other "secret" stuff, John spends a lot of time learning more about what works and what doesn't. He's got his Chevy cookin' - no doubt about it!

I'll put my truck against that BOMB'd D-max. His mods put us in near the same category. We both have 'experemental' turbos ;):D

the only real difference is I run bigger injectors than stock.

At the track the auto has an advantage. On the hill. . well only a pull-off will tell. :)

RE: Pull-off:

Where's JoeD when you need him?:D

you gm and ford guys shouldnt get your panties in a wad. after all like i said before, i'm rooting for your trucks since we've invested over 200 grand in them. you want to pull lets pull. i dont mean for 100 yards, i mean for 100 thousand miles. our upgrades, with gauges cost 1200 bucks, your stock trucks, advertise all of this hp and torque, we just dont see either, with the gm and the psd. let's get back to real life here, no matter who you are loyal to, eventually real conditions dictate the best truck, let's have it ..... five years from now, we'll have another pull-off, then you can brag... after 12 years of ctds i'm still bragging, and i can back this hand up;)
