:--) I dunno what I'm more shocked at..... the new record for the Dr. P team, or Sleddy being courteous to the Dr. P team. :--)

Congrats on the run!

The conditions were 1 in a million, 78 degrees, overcast and NOT humid in Houston, the track was perfect and sticky, i still can't believe the weather, we get 1 or 2 days a year like that. Guys were hooking real hard, the real fast duramaxs apparently didn't show and i didn't see much from the ford camp, except that sputtering sound as they're going down the track, what is that??

man, that Dr. P truck was MOVIN!!!!!

lots of good racing today, and the pulls was fun as all get out. I'd never been to one before (you know... TX and all... ) when those mod trucks light up, it's a sight to see... vids on the net don't do them justice!

Yes keep us updated about all the news on Dr. P truck, Project X and any word on the Dyno results. etc. Thanks PS, Congratulation to Dr. Performance team for the FAST TIME. 8. 40 1/4 mile (Damn Fine Time) I should be there!

From Houston

As Sleddie said, the pulling was awesome. You have to remember, there has been NO, NONE, NATA, ZERO pulling here in the Houston area in well over 15 years that I can remember (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Considering the track was Texas Black Gumbo, basically black clay, but heavier. I believe there were 30 or so trucks who pulled just for fun. There were a couple of 300ft. pulls and a couple of 25fter's and a whole bunch in the 200ft plus range. The carnage was minimal, everyone was able to drive off under their own power :D .

The Modifieds were INCREDIBLE. I have always just blown off pulling. Not my style. Let me tell you, these trucks are incredible. When they spool and leave, the ground shakes. I now know how important wheel speed is to these guys. As far as horsepower, I used to think Sleddy and the pullers were stretching the truth a little when H. P. numbers were thrown around, now I'm not so sure  . These guys make SERIOUS H. P.

Looks like rain will kill things for Sunday. I am located about 40 miles from the track and It Don't look good... ...

Project X ripped a high 11 right out of the box :D

I'll let Wes fill in all the details... if it weren't for all the sponsor stickers, that thing would look like just another stock 3rd gen playing around during time trials :-laf

Only D-Max hanging with the Pro Street guys was a 1972 Orange (beautiful truck) Stepside Chevy with a transplanted D-Max power plant. I believe the owners last name was Craft. Running 11. 0x, but sounds like it has more... ... .

I pulled 272', and the track was 'questionable' at best. It was pure east TX black gumbo, like the others said. I dyno'd 546, with no torque signal :D

It was awkward that the dirt track was EXACTLY 300 feet then bumpy grass, not 301 feet or 320, and the anouncer was talking up the foot results past a full pull, you could tell the modified guys were shutting it down early so they would stop at the end of the track (300 feet), it was kind of a silly situation, i know it's never been done here before but i hope Houston can do better next year. One real nice rig got 307, that's 7 feet off the track in the grass and according to the anouncer was declared the winner, not to rain on his parade but i thought full pull was full pull?? WUnderwood your truck looked good, i saw you give it hell.

thanks Jim, I am very happy with my results. Usually, with my last truck(Powerstroke) I broke 2 transmissions, so I am glad that I could drive away from the pull. The only thing I wish I could have done is build more boost at the line, and then let 'er rip.

next year, the track needs some definate 'work'

So does your R/T on the hard track. :D :D

Should I scan my . 001 time slip to give you a little inspriration??

It's to bad that there was conflicting schedule issues with the charity pull and DHRA!!! Would have been nice to have more trucks at a local pull rather than drive down to TEXAS???

FYI . The track was actually 327', NOT exactly 300. I know, sledpuller and I measured it out. We used what is called a floating finish, there is no full pull mark. Remember, it was a run for fun on Saturday, so there were no real winners or losers. If you think the mods were shutting down early, you are greatly mistaken. Had you been standing at the 320 ft mark on the track as I was, it was very clear that nobody shut down early. Kent Crowder took it right to the end of the track, but not really off of it. You can attribute the mods taking it right up to the end of the track but not past, to Hager, a very experienced sled operator who was able to judge what the mods would do based on the street trucks and set the sled accordingly. The goal was to set the sled so that the stronger "street" trucks would drag it near the 300' mark, and then reset it to get the mods near the 300 ft mark. That black gumbo clay was very tricky to work with and I think worked out quite well all things considered.
