Competition Ever see 1647ft lbs on the dyno??

Competition COMP Banks Engineering

Hey Joe, Tom's VP 44 worked out great, truck ran really hard, unfortunately, his clutch gave up the ghost finally, almost got him through the season, but not quite. It didn't totally hook until about the 200 ft mark. Didn't get to run on Sunday at all because of rain, so there were no real, competitive pulls, just fun hooks.

Well, that sucks, all that way..... just for fun. :eek: Oh well, Houston has lots of "other" vistor attractions that keep for a good time. :D

It was awkward that the dirt track was EXACTLY 300 feet then bumpy grass, not 301 feet or 320, and the anouncer was talking up the foot results past a full pull, you could tell the modified guys were shutting it down early so they would stop at the end of the track (300 feet), it was kind of a silly situation, i know it's never been done here before but i hope Houston can do better next year.

We are very fortunate the track was not 200 feet, with the costs involved. Van Haisley exploded his ROCKWELL, Curt Haisley blew at least a headgasket, Dave R was the 1st hook track leveler, and Crowder shut it down when he was flagged.

So no, they weren't all just shutting it down at the end.

HRP was very interested in building us a permanant track elsewhere on the grounds for this event, 07, and possibly more pulls throughout the year. However, after the mess the run for fun pullers left on the grounds getting to the pulling track, was looked at, that may not happen.

Grounds condition was a key point at the drivers meeting, evidently it was ignored.

Saturday was a run for fun, to give anyone who had never hooked before a chance to pull, for $10. Sunday was going to be the competition.

Considering all the spectators were on their feet cheering, I think it was a great show!!

It did seem that the weight on the sled was moving a lot faster forward on the modded trucks. The power difference between the street trucks and the modded trucks was clearly evident. I got tons of video on the drag strip and the sled. I cant wait till next year.

I got full clearance from my wife to start towards a 12 second truck. :D

I guess Jeff Prince will be getting a lot of my play money :-laf

If someone measured 327 then i guess that's what it was, funny though, that big red dually pulled to 307 (per mc) and was well into the grass when he stopped pulling the sled, yes i was there too at the "finish line" but whatever, it was a great show and i was happy to see some awesome trucks in Houston.

Man, must be nice, I have to kiss butt, take care of the kids as much as possible, get flowers every other week and massage shoulders every night just to get permission to put a double disk in my toy rig. :-laf

So is there results from the pulls posted anywhere?

Saturday's pulls were for fun only and exhibition. Don't think anyone had any official distances. I think the best non exihibition pull was 307', but don't really remember exactly.

The real competition for racing and pulling on Sunday was a complete washout. :{

We kept footages, anyway, but I think they are on their way to Minnesota at the moment... ...

I thought the rookie Texans did a pretty nice job hooking to the sled. That was a pretty big crowd to figure out what to do in front of.

Out of the 35, I don't think more than 10 had ever pulled before, and only a couple more had seen it live.

I would imagine, SBC is getting some calls this week. . :-laf

Wish I could John, gotta work nights this weekend. :{ :{ :{

Ok, I really don't know if I can for sure either and I know I shouldn't. But I really want to race something for real now. Been waiting for a year and don't think I can wait another year. :rolleyes:

Anyone else want to do the Mopar Lone Star thingy??

If the weather looks ok I might go out Saturday and check it out.

WOW!

What GREAT photos - absolutely flawless photography - looks like lots of super neat trucks, a great event, and lots of nice folks having a BLAST!

THANKS!

3rd place was not bad considering it was his first hook ever :eek:
