Load Question??

Need to go get some pellets for this heating season. A pallet of pellets wiegh 2,400lbs. According to the manual my pay load is 2,000. Is this something to be precise on or a conservative number for guidence.



Also to add to it I would like to put another pallet on my utility trailer so I don't need to make two trips. I will be hauling about 25 miles like this.



Is it too much for a 06 2500 quad cab auto? I do have load E tires.

. . if your tires can handle the weight, you truck can handle the load. . the payload ratings are based on vehicle braking performance and what the manufacture recommends as maximum. . [just don't get caught being overweight by the law]

Just air up the tires to 80 psi and go. A 25 mile trip isn't going to hurt a thing, and you are way below the trucks real usable load capacity IMO. If you had a long haul, I would scale the truck and make sure the tires had enough load capacity. That is the number one concern to law enforcement and to me personally

Do the 2500s have overloads? I thought they didn't.

I had a '85 Chevy 1/2 ton that I regularly loaded with sand until it would not hold anymore. Spilling over the sides. The tires got all squashy even at 40 psi. just drove it slow, under 40 mph. It did fine. Headlights pointed at the top of the telephone poles though... ... .
