As the title says. It usually will be much louder after the engine is warmed up. The engine kinda shudders when it turns off and then the noise. Sounds like the belt is being spun on something.

Ideas?

Mine does that when the A/C is on and I shut down. I guess it is pretty common. The engine shuts down faster then the components that are hooked up to the serpentine belt. It doesn't hurt anything, just doesn't sound good.

It has to do with the high compression of the engine. When it is shut off, the crank stops before the belt can, so it squeaks a little bit. Most of these trucks do it.

Thanks guys, as always there are great responses here. So it is "normal", but a Gatorback belt may quiet it down a bit?

Geno's had an aftermarket idler pully that stopped the "chirp" or "sneeze", don't know if they still do or not? I got one in 02 and mine has been symptom free eversince.

If it bothers you, you can get the pully - if it only bothers other people then screw it . . .
