Competition OK sled pullin' Q & A

There is a pull at the county fair on 7/31 ,I usually get there by 6pm. I placed 3rd last yr with practically bald tires. Im hoping to do better this yr. I have new rubber now:D . Here is the info,I think Dodge will be well represented as usual. I have a couple of dmax guys going with us also. If anyone's going let us know when so we can hook up there. I hope Deo/ wheaties will be there again. http://www.ulstercountyfair.com/truckpull.asp John D

I'm not really worried about breaking... . just that my truck was running like dog poo the last time I tried to yank the sled.....

Hrmmm... . we'll see.

Matt

The plate is back in... . still acting up.

I don't want to go back to 181 DV's... . blah!

I still have to look for my AFC rack stop - I can't remember what I did with it..... that might cure it.

Matt

Ok...

I got one little question for ya John. .

How in the world are you going to pass for stock??????. :D :D

Too bad this is a work nite,it would be a great place to break in a new clutch assembly... ... ... . Andy

this pull isnt very high tech,no weight classes, thats how i got beat in previous years. Winning truck has steel ladder racks, and tool boxes, weighed over 8500lbs empty:{ . I weigh about 7100-7200. This year i think i have so much more power, and traction as long as I dont break i should be able to outpull them. We will see how my new tires do Cooper S/T 315/75R16 do. The winning truck always runs bridgestone dualer M/T 285/75/R16,brand new that day,he dont even clean the blue walls off:) . My tires have about 700 miles on them,so they are like new yet. The only concerns I have are the Dana 70 pinion, and U joint. The trans is strong, full billet shafts. No one ever opens a hood there. Propane was used on the winning PSD last year. I dont think they knew or cared, How would fail an underhood inspection if they had one,it looks almost stock, single turbo, nothing fancy under there that they can see. Is N20 illegal to run ?it isnt a fuel, just an oxidizer. I could see an issue with propane, since it is a fuel. i didnt plan on running the N20 anyway,I also have the lower bars( stabilizer bars) from Greg Long of Michican performance diesel installed. I had a tiny bit if hop last yr about 1/2 way down, but it went away, just as i was about top let off the throttle. These bars have all but eliminated my on street axle wrap, and hop,so Im hoping they help at the pulls too.

I wouldn't weight up with a 70 back there, thats a big enough tire, it will chunk the yoke right off.

Are those the same bars that Rob Thomas had on last week and was crushed by like 6 Duramaxes?

Sorry Dude!;)

Gene, I dont plan to weight up at all. My biggest fear is the 70 snapping the pinion. My bars are like Robs, but they are shorter than Robs,by over a foot,so i wouldnt expect them to work the same. The bars have removed most of my hopping so far. This is the only pull I usually get time to attend, the truck is primarily a plow truck, and drag truck,Ill do the best i can with what I have. I did not want a huge ladder bar under the truck, just something to calm down the axle wrap, which these have done perfectly so far:)

snow man and his brother pulled awesome i left a little early but i saw snow man pull it out teh gate , then 2 more full pulls in the gate and his brother too. . im embarassed as it seems on my maiden voyage yestaerday i didn't check my 4x4 ha when i re did my front end over the winter i must have not put my front manaul hubs back together correctly or something i'll have to look into it more argh... lets just say i pulled 5060 feet in 2wd hahah

oh yeah this year there were a ton of trucks ... . big turn out...

. I just got in,like Deo said, in the single wheel diesel class I yanked it right out of there,I actually had to let off:D . My brother pulled with it in the dually class, and went up against an F450 chipped weighing over 14000lbs,and a few chipped PSD dump trucks weighing over 11000 lbs. He won it at 232ft,the one dump truck got to 229 ft,it was close. My cousins Duramax really surprised me,that truck pulled awesome,he got 2nd in single wheel diesel, and 3rd in dual wheel. I need to give the biggest thanks to Greg Long of Michigan Performance Diesel, those traction/ladder bars I bought from him worked excellent. I was one of the few tonight without the hops or chattering. I think I would have broke if I chattered as bad as some of the trucks did. The runs were smooth as glass with those bars,a huge improvement over last year.
