Competition OK sled pullin' Q & A

Matt,it was a good pull. I wish you had come. They even moved right along quickly,so we got out of there around 11 or so,not bad at all. The track was loose on top, very loose, about 2-3" of sandy loam, perfect for pulling. Only 1 truck broke, but I think it stalled at the end when they were unhooking and the batt was to weak to restart(it was a beater that lookd like it was a yard truck).

I probably wouldn't have done too well... . with my pump acting up and such..... it would have been fun to see Deo pull in 2WD, though..... talk about a high-rpm blast for an engine that hasn't run in MONTHS! Sweet!

Matt - stuck at work on a Saturday... .

My bars are like Robs, but they are shorter than Robs,by over a foot,so i wouldnt expect them to work the same. I did not want a huge ladder bar under the truck, just something to calm down the axle wrap, which these have done perfectly so far:)

John, the only reason yours are shorter than mine, is due to yours being a short bed, everything else is identical, different body configurations, different lengths. Glad to hear you did so well at the pulls, are you addicted now? :)

Rob

BTW Gene, my bars had nothing to do with me being whooped by those d-maxes, ya putz, LOL.

Rob,I had seen Greg's ,so I knew they were longer. I have been addicted to pulling for yrs,I only pull locally though. I wish I had the time to go to more pulls. Those bars worked great,if i had a few sets there ,I know I could have sold them after the pulls. Most of the trucks had wheel chatter, the whole truck would chatter as they spun, not mine, not one little bit. It was just my night I guess. :D

Justin, Im not speaking for Rob,but in my case I can assure you those bars work. All my axle wrap is gone. The truck goes into gear smooth and solid now, before the truck shook like the driveshaft was made of rubber, the entire truck would shake on every gear change before. (I have my trans is set up very tight, and firm),even a light throttle locked 3-4 shift before you would send the truck into a 1-2 second shake, that got old quick. Mine were made the same as Rob's but they are shorter due to the short box. The truck also kicks up less in turns now, which suprised me,I thought the increased unsprung weight would make it worse ,but its actually better.

At the pulls I was the only Dodge that didnt get wheel chatter at some point during the pull,I got zero. Most trucks seemd to get it at around the 150 ft mark, and it worsened as the sled slowed them down. Mine didnt even shudder past 250ft,even when I got off the track and onto the item #4 crushed stone in the parking lot:) .

Rob,

Do your home-made traction bars articulate properly?

Also, how do you know for certain they are working?

--Justin

Justin, my "home made bars", as you call them, are not something that were whipped up on a whim, they were engineered, although as you might guess, not by me, but rather an actuall engineer. Yes they are articulating correctly, how do I know? Testing.

How do I know for certain they are working? Again, testing.

Unlike your bars, these are great for the street, no noise, no binding, and not a stiffer ride. These also do not take 7 hours to install, unlike yours. Any onther questions/comments, feel free to ask.

Thanks, Rob
