Hey there guys/gals. I am going to just change out my G-56 fluid as a precaution as soon as my 14mm hex comes in the mail. Is the drain plug the one at the very bottom of the transmission? The fill hole is the obvious one on the passenger side. Thanks!

BTW, if there is anyone in my area that might loan me a 14mm hex head to change out quicker than waiting for the tools to come in that would be great!

If I am not mistaken, I believe that I had to remove the cover from the side of my 2004, 6 sp. transmission, to drain and clean it out. I do not think it has a drain hole. But while I am not looking at it at the moment, it might just be that I bypassed useing the drain plug in favor of being able to look in at the gears etc. To seal it back up, all you have to have is automotive silicon sealant. Also, while I was in there I found a little magnet laying in the bottom of the housing to catch any filings. I cleaned it off while I was in there. I thought that was a good thing. ,as you can tell how much wear has happened. You would not be able to access it through the drain plug. Well, enough of my rambling.

If it was an 04, then you had the NV5600, NOt the G-56. I am needing info on the G-56. I used to drain and refill on my NV5600's all the time. Anybody know for sure?

Not to try to sound smart, but why not just check it, if it is full and clean, save your time and money and do it at 15K miles, or 10K if you want to be extra precautious?

Only concern was the rear diff looked horrible!!! It say and got some contamination so I promptly ( 350 miles on the ticker) replaced the rear diff fluid!!! But yes, I will ck it and see what it looks like...

Only have a 4x2... if the road is so bad I need 4x4 I just don't go!! LOLOLO My truck was sitting long time on a lot near the ocean... . Thats probably how it got that way. .
