Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) locker for Dana 80 rear-end

anyone know of a manufacturer that has a replacement locker for a dana 80 with 3. 55s?



the clutches are completely burnt out and i dont want to waste money rebuilding the stocker.



my local mechanic buddy and 4X4 guru searched high & low for a detroit trutrac (or the equivelant), the best option he found was to change to 4. 10s (i dont want that , or the expense of doing the front one also)



suggestions?

Detroit and ARB both make lockers for the D80 I believe. I know for the D70 for sure.

i have checked with both detroit, and arb suppliers, i also looked at their online application guides. anything listed for dana 80 is shown as 4. 10 gears or higher

I believe people are using a Detroit Locker from the Dana 70 and the redrilling the ring gear to fit the Dana 80.

We put an ARB air locker in my dad's truck and he has a 3. 54 rear end. Works good

I thought the D70 used a single carrier from 3. 42 up to somewhere in the 6. something range??? The D80 is very similar... it doesn't have carrier breakes like a D60.

I just looked on ARBs list, Dana 80 35 and 37 splines 3. 73 gears and down. RD80 and RD91.



3. 55 would be in the "3. 73 and down" category.

I have the open rear 3. 55 and was looking for something as well



The only thing I could find was the ARB



However, Randys Ring and Pinion or Reider racing said they could use a Dana 70 unit, then drill and tap the ring gear bolt to a Dana 80 spec.



If I put something in, I was thinkin get a Dana 70 Powr Lok.

You have to buy the Detroit for a 70 "HD". Drill the holes from 1/2 to 9/16, it goes right in.



I have the Eaton Electric locker up front, works nice.
