I could have used a locker last weekend. Amazing how a 8000lb. truck can slide so easily backwards down a mild gravel road hill, then sideways, spinning the whole way. Of course this was a road which was covered in ice at the top of the hill, but only on the right side. Which tires spun? The right side, just enough to let the truck loose traction and slide sideways. Scared the bejeezus out of me looking in the right rear view and seeing the trailer I was towing next to me. I will be one of the first to purchase a locker for the rear when available.

The PWs use the 10. 5 rear, the 11. 5AAM has nothing out other than the trac-rite.

And there are several non-GM units available for the front...

I wouldn't run a lockright in my worst enemies truck... junk, junk, junk.

hey steve and bodie, i was wondering why my ford gaser, i had none of the problems you guys had . i do drive easy. very rare did i ever here the locker? is it just the way i drive or the truck is very stock? kp

I ran it in a 95 1500 ram... I offroaded quite a bit, but drove 75% on the road... I never "broke" one into pieces, I would just wear the square shoulders of the teeth round, then it would start to slip (machine gun-like sound when trying to drive, and by that time it had already chewed the bearings up in the pinion...

I tried multiple setups (clearances) and nothing helped... I went through several of these under warranty... all in all, it cost me around $1500 for using them... had to have the diff rebuilt twice (once by dodge, once by me).

A full detroit is one thing, but those luchbox lockers are nothing but garbage IMO.
