does anyone make a locker for the front and rear end in my 99' 3500 4X4, that heavy front end needs all the help it can get on soft ground. i've heard of some people having problems with the factory limited slip, are there any fixes for this? does detroit locker make one for the dana 80?

I believe there is a Detroit for the rear.

A buddy of mine runs a full time locker in the front of his 1500, but I'm not sure its the best idea as it may cause the front drive shaft to spin in 2wd, causing vibration and wear.

I put an ARB air locker in front. 3. 55 ratio. Back when I did this, I wanted a Detroit in the rear but it was only available for the 4. 10 ratio for the Dana 80, so I went with a Powerlock limited slip (I had an open diff). Like them both.

Believer,

I'm curious why you didn't install an ARB in to rear also? You were obviously set up for it. I'm sure it was cost, but the convience would have been nice too.

ARB does make a locker for the rear. For some year models they already have a locker for the front, too, but Dodge changed the set-up a couple of years ago, and they are just now getting around to making one for the front for those newest models. E-mail them at info@4x44u.com to get a phone number for their U. S. Distributor and answers to any other questions. I'm not sure which set-up the 1999 had, but ARB will help you - they are very customer-oriented.

Lockers on the front end are generally not advised for safety reasons. The ARB is an exception to this rule because it is only engaged when you push the button.

For the rear, most of the lockers can be fitted to your axle, regardless of whether you started with a factory limited slip or open diff. But if you already have limited slip, find someplace to test it to see if you are happy or not before spending more money. Yes, some people don't like the factory LS, but, many people do like it. There are still some threads on this board that discuss this at length; try searching on "limited slip".
