I've had this problem off and on for about a year. The front hubs work fine but when you unlock them sometimes they make noise like driving over a wire mesh bridge. I 've looked at old topics and it sounds familiar to what some people have described.
After removing the right side locking assembly w/large snap ring and the inner assembly held in by the small phillips screw, I saw the smaller snap ring (1-3/4") had broken and the nylon bushing had started to wear out. The left side is still Ok but the snap ring has started to break off little by little.
Where can I buy these nylon bushings and snap rings? Are they still available? I've had no luck at NAPA or the dealer so far and don't want to spend $150-$200 for new hubs if I don't have to. While I have it apart I might replace my original brakes and calipers too (120,000 miles). Any suggestions? Thanks.
