Has anyone used a lockable plastic storage bin that fits inside the bed of a pickup? I would like to install one that fits across the entire width of the bed right inside behind the cab. Any insights to who manufactures or sells them are appreciated.

Thank you, Tony G

Delta always seems to come out on top in the tv car gadget shows. The problem I've had with plastic wannagan boxes (yep, that's right) is that they start sagging whenever you put anything heavier than a pidgeon f*rt in 'em. Then cause they sagged, they leak! Oh. Lordy how they leak!!! Ya sure ya don't wanna go for metal box??

In Bed Storage

The lockable storage bin I would like to purchase would fit inside the bed from left to right sides. It does not sit on top of the bed rails but lays flat on the bed floor, so it can never sag or leak. Just wanted to know if any members were using such an item in the back of their trucks. Would like to store some needed tools and equipment. Thanks

If you change your mind and want to look at a metal box, I'd highly recommend the Weather Guard boxes - we have a below-the-rails 5ver box that sits on the bed floor, and it's solid and bone dry.

go to wal-mart and take a look around, I think they have what you are looking for. Don't buy the suspended ones though as stated in an earlier post.

TonyG:

I have a metal box as you describe made by challanger which I think is a division of Delta but not sure on that. I actually use a 48" wide chest so that leaves space between the chest and the side walls of the bed and the wheelwells. I use that space to store things when traveling that I do not want sliding around in the bed. like chainsaw, fuel cans etc. Which leaves the box for tools, straps, parts whatever. Have it bolted through the bed floor with two lag bolts so that I can take it out of the bed in about 2 minutes by unscrewing the bolts when needed. It also allows me to put some 8 foot lengths of pipe, 2x4s whatever in the bed without taking the box out or resting them on the tailgate. This is the second vehicle this box has been in and still no leaks or dents after about 200,000 miles and 6 or 7 years.

Wal Mart has several you can order . I got the BetterBuilt 60 x19hx20w. for $206 incl tax. They also list a 24"w for $250 and a plastic one.

Only trouble is about a 1-2 week wait.
