I have a locking tailgate on my signature truck that I have not been able to figure out how to lock it. I thought it would lock/unlock with the key fob when I lock the doors but that doesn't happen. Do I have to turn on that feature? I have tried using the key from the fob but that doesn't work either, kinda like it's not the right key but I bought the truck used and I wasn't given any other keys.

Thank you for any input

Should lock/unlock with the door locks. And the emergency key in the fob should work in it as well. Sounds like it had a replacement tailgate and the cylinder wasn't keyed to the door lock and the wires may have not been connected to the bed. If the original gate was stolen, the wires could have been cut and never repaired.

On ours, the first "unlock" push on the key fob unlocks the driver's door only. The second push unlocks all the other doors plus the tailgate. I agree with Hoefler - something strange is going on if you can't lock/unlock it with the fob OR the key.

If you stand by the tail gate and push the FOB you should heear the solenoid cycle in the tailgate. Do you have a rear view camera and is it working? Make sure it is plugged in below the gate, the rectangular piece pops out of the truck below the tail gate, and has to be plugged into a pigtail from the trucks wiring.

I removed the inner panel on the tailgate and unplugged the solenoid as I did not like walking up to the truck and not being able to open the tailgate at Lowes/Home Depot without first unlocking the truck. Key still works!

You may already know, but you can set all doors (which includes the tailgate) to unlock with a single push of the keyfob. It's on the radio/nav screen. That's how mine is set mine.

Living in the Houston metro area, there are times you don't want to unlock all the doors at once. I'll live with the second push, thanks.

Your gonna walk out of HD one day and your tailgate will be missing. JHawes

I had to add the power locking feature to my 2012 myself so your 2010 probably doesn't have it as it wasn't an option.

Thanks for the replies to my question. I have not had a chance to mess with it since posting but I will report my findings.
