Does anyone know of a way to lockout the overdrive on a 2005 48RE? I would like to be able to keep the transmission in 3rd and lockup while pulling my trailer. thanks!

BD has a new transmission box out that offers OD off & lets us retain tow/haul. I believe its called 'Lockout'. I wasn't able to find it on their webiste, but it is on their online store.

Dodge has came out with a new 'flash' that gives 05s the OD on/off switch, but gets rid of tow/haul.

I'm planning on trying the BD product, I believe it costs 220, but at least it lets us keep tow/haul. I'll run this & a tcc lockup switch for alot less than lets say, the ATS Copilot.

I just had the BD OverDrive Lockout installed on my 2005 3500 DRW. You double tap the tow/haul switch and it engages. A single tap gives you tow/haul. I have not had a chance to tow with it. I do not know about lockup of the torque converter in 3rd - and I hope someone will address that.

BD Overdrive Lockout

I just bought it and installed it... It is the answer to the moronic 2005 48re non lockout overdrive... .

It is the final piece to my trans. . Thanks BD for this product!!!

To the DC engineers ... WTF were you thinking????#@$%!

Cheers, Bill

IMHO, if they were thinking, they would have designed the 48re transmission to use a jake as described in their option brochure.

But what do I know. :)

Just out of curiousity, by installing this product, would it void the warrenty??

Thanks.

If you fart in your truck DC can and might try to deny your warranty
