Loctite 277? Is 271 equivalent?

No one around here has the Loctite 277 that the manual calls for when replacing the front cam shaft seal.

What are you guys using & is 271 acceptable?

Use only the formulation that is called for, they are very different. I have not done the cam seal, but I have plenty of experience with Loc-Tite.

If you want to be sure that the Loc-Tite works 100% then go the extra mile and use the Loc-Tite primer before using the sealer. It comes in a small aersol can. I make a practice of using it whenever I use any Loc-Tite. The primer gets rid of any oily residue.

IF you dont have primer------or just want to clean off something ---even grease out of your white shirt-nylons of that cute gal in the office, the Blouse was my fav-o-rite- OR your cloth seat cushion, use starting fluid(ether)
CAUTION!!!! put out the butt!first.
Don't want that decal someone put on the tail gate. Peal off. . whats left the addhasive. again ether,wipes off like snot!!!
Best parts cleaner on the market and not many know about it!!!Try it you will love it and to say nothing of the cost.

Thanks for the tips!

I could'nt find the 277 locally w/o ordering it.
After reading the description of each (277&271) in their catalog & seeking tech assistance from the Loctite website, I felt it safe enough to proceed w/ the 271.
Besides, I was right in the middle of the job & my impatience made me do it!

Email from Loctite this am confirms my suspicion. The 277 would be a little less messy but the 271 would be OK in a pinch.

Every Loctite product is listed. No I don't work for 'em. Just extremely convenient, and very responsive.

I used 271 on my seal too. When reading the literature they both had the same strength specs and so forth. I called all over and was unable to find any 277 either. I also used the 271 on the bolt holding my "tab" in place. Hopefully it will never come loose.
