I think it was a Fleetguard tech that told me that shortly after the new 24V engines came out, a small number of the older oil filters split, especially during cold weather starts when the oil pressure peaks with thicker oil prior to warm-up. The 24V's got a beefed-up design as a result. My Opinion: Don't take chances with your engine; give the older filters to someone with a 12V engine and buy some LF3894's for yourself.
