What is going to be the effect on 24v from using the old L F 3349 filter vs. the new 3894 and or3959 ?????

For the few bucks why would you not use the 3894. Cummins sold me 3-3959's, and took one back for a 3894 for the first oil change on the 2001. 5 CTD. I will use the other two 3959's on the B150's in the boat, which have getting 3349's in the past. SNOKING

The 3349 is for the 12v. The problem is the 12v filters should not be used on the 24v. It has something to do with seal or filter case of the 12v filter will not hold up on the 24v.



Use the 3894. It is the best, IMO, filter that you can use on the truck.

I think it was a Fleetguard tech that told me that shortly after the new 24V engines came out, a small number of the older oil filters split, especially during cold weather starts when the oil pressure peaks with thicker oil prior to warm-up. The 24V's got a beefed-up design as a result. My Opinion: Don't take chances with your engine; give the older filters to someone with a 12V engine and buy some LF3894's for yourself.
