I agree, 6th gear just doesn't seem to do it. It is rediculous to be at 22 for 65.

I really don't like the high rpms either.

Guess the most economical fix to get lower highway rpms is going to be tires- larger diameter. But then the additional height will keep me out of the garage at home. Nuts.

I hate to stick my fist in this hornet nest but... ... ...

IF I am reading this as 6 speed problem, have any of you tried to defeat the clutch safety switch?

Maybe one of you could try it and start the truck with the clutch out in neutral for a day to see if it eliminated the long crank cycle. I mention this because of the DM flywheel.

Find a buddy with an auto and borrow his jumper or just tape the switch closed. A quick test, no harm no foul.....

Unless you start the truck in gear. :-laf

My '05 2500 also takes a long time to start sometimes. I've found that if I tap the accelerator pedal it fires right up every time. Now every time I start her I keep my foot on the pedal for quick response if she doesn't kick right over.

I had this same problem but not so much anymore. My cranks are usually the same amount f time +/- a second or 2. I too think it has to do wth the cam and crank sensors communicating with each other and saying I am @ TDC now in order for it to fire. I have usually been in the habit lately to wait until I hear the last beep when I turn the key "on. " It usually fires right up after that but I can vouch with others saying it does take a little longer on cold starts. Just after a shut down for a fuel filll up or quick run into the store it fires right up.

Just try giving it a few seconds with the key in the "on" position until you crank and see how that cranking time develops, it has helped with mine and haven't had any long cranks(over 5 seconds) in a while now.

i just stop and try again if it dont start in 3 seconds. kind of embarassing to have a 35k truck not start first time. every time it happen around people, they look.
