Koa, I've run into some years, don't remember if it was earlier or later where the intake hose was longer than a foot. Two feet of each is safe for all years.

Starting problem

Have you had some else turn the key while you watch the shut-off solenoid to make sure it's opening the pump right? On our military trucks with C's in them the solenoid doesn't retract like it's suppose to. The shaking of the engine while trying to start makes the soleniod retract and the engine pops right off. If I reach up and give it a little push, they retract and start the way their suppose to. The military has kept the mfg. of these soleniods in bussiness cause they are always up in smoke.

jessup here at cummins columbus said that the early model trucks started too fast and that they designed the 12v's to crank over once or twice before starting. he said just crack the go pedal a little and it won't crank over so long.

Hey Mark, when my hose started acting up my truck just wouldn't start, primed pump, tried again and again, then it seemed to start when it wanted to, (probably when all the air was out). The hose change wasn't that bad, in fact I think it was the first "job" I did after I got it 3 years ago.
