This may only apply in Arizona, not for sure. Other day went to fuel at a place I don't normally go to. They have a number of pumps one side had large nozzles and the other small and are labled as such with big red leters. The large is intended for commercial and small for non as we all know. In Arizona the commercial pays an extra 8 cents per gallon. Not here to debate that charge being correct or not. So if it is worth it to you to get fuel in faster for the extra money so be it. I just want to caution everyone to be aware of it at least in this state. I have seen some places that have one pump for everyone and when you go inside they give you the 8 cent discount if necessary at stops you would not think have commercial trucks fueling. But you have to ask if the 8 cents is included or not. Anyway just a caution. :)

I used to go to a Texaco station that would refund you the 8 or 9 cents per gallon. I went there every other day for a year. The cashiers hated when I would ask for the discount. One day they said they would no longer give the discount. I said I would no longer get my fuel there.

I haven't seen anything like that in Georgia or in any state that I've purchased fuel. This includes those times that I've towed and had to use the pumps that the big rigs use. I've never seen red handles either, just green.

Well don't grab the green at a Mobile station. They use green for their top grade GAS. Illflem red? naughty boy

Bob,

Would that be that discount place on 7th ave. and I-10/I-17 ?. They list 2 different prices. One price is strictly Diesel and the other is light duty Diesel or something like that. I have driven by it quite a few times and was a little bewildered by the 2 prices. Light duty Diesel (must be a workman's comp. thing:D ). That place is the only time I have ever seen 2 different prices.

I also found out the hard way that the price listed is cash price. If you use a debit/check card like I do most truck stops tack on 3 or 5 cents per gallon. Then they tell me, "Well we have an ATM machine right over there" Yeah after the 1. 50 service charge from them and 1. 00 from my bank I'll jump right on that deal.

I usually get my fuel at Flying J and use my credit card and my Flying J discount card. I paid $1. 33 the other day minus 1 cent for the discount card. Order the card on the www.flyingj.com website. :p

Was in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area over the weekend and diesel duel in Texas was $1. 53. A few miles up the road in Okla at one of those Indian owned truckstops it was 19 cents cheaper. Seeing this type of price difference sure makes one want to have an auxillary tank.

$1. 53 :{ I wish, Here in Pittsburgh, I have not seen any for less than $1. 66 for months and it only goes up from there. Heck, 94 octane at Sonoco is only $1. 60 :-{} :-{} :{ :-{}

I fuel at the TTT truckstop on I-10 in Tucson. The actual truckstop pumps are full service and have the higher price for the heavy trucks. The Conoco station right next to it sells diesel at the lower price for non-comercial or small trucks, self service. I asked inside, and they confirmed that it's the same company, and I assume, the same fuel. Nice place, and the have a CAT scale too.

Yep! got caught in that price deal back in september in arizona. could not figure out why the guy told me to fuel up on the gas island. all he had to do was say it was cheaper and i would have done it. but stupid me just thought he wanted me off the truck island. :(

noticed a local station that had their signs out by the road yesterday. regular diesel/$1. 57 a gallon, off road diesel/$1. 09 a gallon. tell me that wouldn't tempt any one with a diesel.

DavidC ~ Sorry took so long to answer; was out of town a few days. Actually the station was at the Texico off I-17 at Cordes Junction. Probably the same thing at the one at I-17 & I-10 though. You see it occasionally and mostly I have at the Texico stations where you have commercial heavy duty and light duty fuel pumps mixed. Or they have alot of commercial heavy duty use.

YUP:(

It suprises me that someone hasn't come up with something to defeat the dye

I was really disgusted yesterday when I filled up and saw the sign above the pump that said 40+ cents tax per gallon

There are a lot of taxes per gallon on fuel & gas. The one on fuel I am talking about is I think called "road use tax" here but not for suse. That tax is actually 18 cents here. Not sure why you only get 8 cents back and still have to pay the 10 cents but that appears to be the case. I guess we use 10 cents worth of the road!!! It can pay to be observent though on this fact. If you go to a place that only pumps light duty fuel for under 26000# then it is already taken off; if not you can save over the commercial guys.

Look at fuel price before pumping

I too was confused by the two price system here in Arizona (where I now live). The Pilot station at I-40 and US 95 advertises one price (the commercial one) on its big board and sells to private vehicles for less. I use the commercial truck lanes when towing the fifth wheel and just tell the cashier it's a private vehicle and they deduct the difference. In the auto lanes, it is already deducted.

Bottom line..... when buying in Arizona, use the auto lanes when possible and if not, tell the cashier that you are a private truck... .
