You guys are a bunch of pissers! :-laf The Green Monster is in a snow bank, I don't want to salt it anymore than I have to. The fuel was free in the chibby. And the chibby is 4x4, I didn't know what I was going to run into at the guys house.
The truck is in pretty good shape. The guy paid $300 for it, switched the box and doors and robbed the passenger fender off it. The cab is really good, only a little rust underneath. I'm gonna have to swap the whole interior though, it's blue. Inner fenders are good, etc. Can I get the VIN sticker on the door jamb off mine without ruining it?
Tolls were $30 round trip, and lunch for me and the FIL. Doing good on this one so far!
That vin sticker will self destruct when you try to remove it. If you look closely. On the firewall to right of the build tag is the last 6 numbers of the VIN. So just swaping the dash and your build tag will not remove all the traces of the orginal VIN.
Check with the NY DMV and see what you need to do towards a legal cab change.
Pete in my state I have seen 2 cabs swaps that the paper work was not done. When they were caught. Both vehicles spent about 1 month in a tow in compound till all the correct paper work was done. At the current rate of around $25 a day for storage fees. The small amount for the paper work is cheap.
On the other side of the coin. You might never get caught.
