Now wondering if I have the right truck, could use some advice

Modified Companion Hitch

Wife and I visited Charlotte RV dealer yesterday and drooled over a new Forest River "Trilogy" fifth wheel. FR has done a great job on designing this new luxury RV. Great detail and design. Large one has 18k gvw and 17. 5" wheels. It is built by Dynamax.

Get past the initial glitz. Now start looking closer. Does it have a storage bin at the bottom of the basement storage? If so think about how you are going to get at it with things stacked on top?

For a rig like that why is it not a wide body?

I have looked at a couple and I add them to the list of want to be high end units.

Best quality I have seen in an RV in a long time.

Forest River has never made a quality RV. The highest rated is a 2. 5 stars. A Hichhiker is 4 and 4. 5 stars. Any Northwood Mfg are 4 stars. A Forest River may look good, but look inside cabinets and in the storage areas. You'll see shoddy workmanship. They have low grade frame and running gear, which are made in China. Do a search here on TDR. Much has been said about there low quality.

If you want a quality RV, look at RV Consumer Group.

I have a Forest River Wildcat. It's been an ok trailer but if I knew then what I know now I'd have kept looking. Had to replace the axles, most of the screws are in constant need of tightening, the hatches barely latch, the nuts on the bolts that hold the box to the frame came loose shortly after purchase, etc. We do use it on dirt roads and camp in some rough spots but the overall build quality is not that great.

Maybe their QC is getting better.
