Found a 08 4X4 135,000 miles wondered if I should move to the 6. 7 or look for a 06 or 07 5. 9?

How much difference in mileage, maintenance etc? All comments welcome.
 
Several questions for you before we can give you a more accurate opinion.

1) How are you going to use the truck... dialy driver with short trips or long distance with frequent towing?

2) Is all of the factory emission control equipment in place or has it been deleted?

3) Is this a private owner truck where you can discuss the history with them or is it at a dealer? If so, do they have the maintanence history available?

4) What overall condition is the truck in?
 
1. / I use for towing my RV in the summer and might haul my 4X4 to AZ for the winter, otherwise it will be parked in shop for the winter
2. / Going to look at today, we have no emission testing

3. /It is a private seller with maintenance records

4. / Acording to seller is in great. condition.

I am old and have bought many vehicles and knoe what to look for.

Sounds like you know what you are getting in to. The '07. 5's and '08's were probably the most tempermental when exposed to short commutes. Most issues were associated with the DPF.
 
Had an 07. 5 6. 7 for 3 years, 41K miles, 80% city driving and 20% towing a camper... ZERO problems
Have had sig truck for 2 years, 51K, 10% heavy snow plowing in winter, 20% pulling a 10K camper, and 70% hwy driving (don't live in the city any more)... ZERO problems.

92K trouble free miles so far with the 6. 7.

Get the 6. 7. It's the diesel truck equivalent of an Apple Mac Computer... IT JUST WORKS... every time... every day!

The Chevy Duramax is pretty good... works good most of the time like Windows 7 or XP. The Ford Powerjoke is full of bugs like Windows Vista... a piece o crap!

I had a '95 5. 9, and then an '03 5. 9, bought an '08 6. 7 with 49k on it, deleted it and it's the best damn truck I've owned.
I love the 6. 7
