I plan on buying a 97 or 98 2500 4WD in the close future. the 98 quad cabs are looking pretty good to me. does the 97 come W/3 doors as an option or stricly 2 doors?. . are there big differeces in the interiors?... thanks
The 97's have two doors only. Some of the 98 12v's out there have the third door but not many. 98. 5's with the 24v have the third door, not sure tho if all of them do but some.
The 97's have the biggest pump, and will give you more horsepower out of it then the 98's.
Most of the interiors are the same as far as design but some have leather, power seats and so on.
Huh? 97 and 98 5 speeds both have 215HP P-pumps. Autos are 180HP. 98's have either club cab or quad cab with the 12V motor. The interior is completely different between 97 to 98 trucks, all models. 98's have the same interior up to 2002 models.
The outside mirrors are different, too.
The 98 QC 12V's are the hardest to find, since they were only made part of the model year, then the 98. 5 24V took over.
My buddy was just here with his 98 12v and unless he bought a very rare 98 his interior and mine LOOKED pretty much the same. I did NOT say they all are the same it was not meant to start a " my truck is better then ur truck " thing.
It is a fact that the 97 12v 5sp is the most sought after 12v truck due to the PUMP.
Dodgentwo, I believe that Fred hit it right on the head with his assesment of the difference. I would suggest that you do a little more research for your own enlightment.
I have a 98QC 12V & I really like the truck. The extra rear doors are great for my needs, but the front seats design uses up more interior space than the non QC. The 97 & 98's have identical drivetrains & hydro boost brakes, the '98 does have the newer style interior which I prefer. 1998 5spd Shortbed's QC 4x4's seem to be the most sought after.
I may be living a sheltered life, but I have never seen or heard about three door Dodges. I know someone with a 3 door Ford, & he wishes it had 1 more door. DK.
csnider, just trying to give you facts, nothing else intended. One more point, the 97-98 12V 5speeds with CA emissions will only be 180HP, not 215. You'll know it is one of these, as it has the EGR setup on it.
the few trucks I've been considering are out of state. . I wonder if I'd run into trouble trying to get it registered... . I'll have to check into that. . Thanks for that bit of info.....
