I am looking at a 2001.5, 5 speed, 4x4 for a friend of mine. It is a one owner with 58,000 miles. The ad says it is the 245 hp engine but as far as I know, the 245 hp only came with the 6 speed NV5600. Correct? It is definitely a 5 speed stick. So is it a 235 hp then? He will have to look to see if it is a #53 block. Being that the truck was built in Saultio Mexico, is it more apt to have the Mexican block?

My former '01 was a Mexican built truck and it had a 53 block. It was an early 2001 however (June 2000 build).

I should have added that it was a NV-4500 5-speed truck.

No, no issues to mention. I only had it for 7 years and 63000 miles. But, it had probably 300+ trips down the drag strip in that time. Everything that went bad, I caused.

I have a 2001.5 with 272k miles. I have the 5-speed with 235hp I think. been rock solid for 16.5 yrs. just the normal repairs and transmission at 268k

Yes if its a 5 speed or a auto transmission its got 235 horsepower only the 6 speed has 245 horsepower
Its not a big difference in horsepower and you will not feel the difference when driving
